Towards the end of the fourteenth century, a child was found abandoned beside the road leading to the tiny town of Sevenoaks, in the county of Kent. He grew up to become William Sevenoke, Mayor of London, warden of the Grocers’ Company and a friend of Henry V. In thanksgiving for his share in the victory of Agincourt in 1415, he founded a school in the place of his humble origins.
Today Sevenoaks enjoys the distinction of being one of the UK’s longest established schools. It is a co-educational public school.

In 2005 a new £9 million sports centre was built and in 2010 a new 13 million pound performing arts centre was handed over to the school. To provide restaurant facilities for the students a cafeteria was converted from an old classroom. As this area was located down a few steps and some distance from the mains drain, standard gravity drainage was not possible. A small bore pumping system was required. Saniflo, market leaders for over 30 years in macerators and pumps recommended a Sanispeed which was installed under the cafeteria’s two kitchen sink’s, pumping waste water vertically 5 metres into a roof void and horizontally along the 20 metre stretch to fall into the existing mains drain. A perfect solution for all concerned!

The Sanispeed is a pump which is intended for light commercial situations. It has a working temperature of 35C and can operate at 75C for short periods. Pumping up to 70m horizontally, its maximum discharge height is 7m with a flow rate at this height of 43litres/minute.
It has proved extremely efficient in bar/restaurant environments where there were previously no alternatives to gravity drainage and is very popular in areas of heavy use.
