Showermatic.......easy to install Posted on Feb 14, 2012

“Easy access…..Easy to install”

Peter Barker of Southern Mechanical Services

Cambridge University Hospitals are well known for their facilities, and Addenbrookes in Cambridge is no exception.

A same sex showering unit was required in F6 ward, the older building on the vast concourse that makes up today’s hospital campus. The long term contractor for building services there was called in to advise.

Peter Barker soon realised there would be problems with the use of conventional drainage. Directly below the proposed new facilities is the transplant ward, access is restricted so any drainage would have to be diverted from passing through the adjoining floors and ceilings.

This could be achieved with a new product, the Showermatic from Saniflo which allows level access and has an integrated peristaltic pump ideal for such locations. The installation was straight forward and is running smoothly.

The Showermatic solved this problem by providing a reliable solution for the removal of the waste water by simply sucking up the water from a shallow gully and then discharging the waste water via small-bore pipework to the main drain.
